Professional Experience

February 1983 - Present:
President
Longacre & Associates, Inc.

Ms. Longacre leads a team of technical safety researchers who provide support services to attorneys, expert witnesses, manufacturers, government agencies, and insurance companies involved in product liability litigation. In leading this research, she identifies, investigates, and documents potential defects that may have contributed to an accident. Ms. Longacre has over 20 years of experience in supporting defect analysis through technical safety research obtained from government and industry libraries, data bases, and other information sources.

As President, Ms. Longacre is responsible for overall company operations including financial planning, setting company priorities, and execution of short and long term goals. Ms. Longacre's technical expertise is in the following areas:

May 1980 - February 1983:
Director of Technical Research
The Institute for Safety Analysis, Inc.

Ms. Longacre coordinated and supervised the technical safety research staff and support services provided to in-house staff of expert witnesses as well as clients located nationwide. She also assisted the President of the company, Dr. Robert Brenner, with management decisions affecting Research Operations.

Ms. Longacre's accomplishments include development of

  • In-house collection of technical and legal documents from the safety field
  • Computerized Library Management System
  • Computerized casebook of factual and technical information for each case

Ms. Longacre trained and supervised the safety research staff in the following areas:
  • Collection, analysis, and computerized preparation of technical safety research
  • Manage case files
  • Analysis of factual and technical data; develop case issues
  • Preparation of computerized casebook
  • Assist in field investigations
  • Other support services; preparing interrogatories, deposition and trial questions, trial exhibits, questions to experts, etc.

1979 - 1980:
Consumer Information Specialist

Ms. Longacre received and acted upon requests for information from consumers pertaining to defective consumer products. She participated in CPSC investigations, including asbestos, aluminum wiring, hair dryers, and other hazards, and assisted in preparation of a monthly publication of trend analysis of alleged defects in consumer products.

1978 - 1979:

Under the supervision of Mrs. Esther Peterson, Ms. Longacre participated in research and product development projects including test marketing research on new industrial methods of sterilizing milk, reduced automotive rates for carpools, and others.
